It all began when Rich’s (one of Kakoa's founders) wife turned vegan he wanted to treat her with some chocolate but was left surprised with the lack of innovation and choice available; mainly dark chocolate in traditional flavours.
He took matters into his own hands and made some vegan milk chocolates in his kitchen. Soon demand was so high Rich, who was now vegan, with the help of his brother Mike moved into a specialist premises and Kakoa was born. Kakoa, which is German for cocoa (although with the O and A the wrong way round as they like to be different!), is a nod to the brothers German mother who was very supportive as the business grew. They specialise in handmade cruelty free chocolates, on trend flavours and biodegradable packaging.
