First created in 1946 by Amelie and Henry Abtey in Mulhouse, France; Abtey are artisanal chocolatiers who have been producing speciality chocolate liqueurs for three generations. Since 1961, Abtey launched what would become the speciality of the chocolate factory: chocolate filled with liquor without the crystallization of sugar. Innovation, originality and quality have been the core beliefs of the family ever since the Abtey brand was created and remains a family passion; still to this day.
The success of the Abtey brand is based on their hallmark of high quality, pure butter cocoa to create their beautiful chocolates and now occupies a small premises of 20m² but 7,500 m² of production area in Heimsbrunn, near Mulhouse, headed by Anne-Catherine Roedel, the granddaughter of Amelie and Henry Abtey.
